Cupboard:
Hi, this is John from The Cupboard in Cincinnati, Ohio. Today on Cupboard Artists Insights we’re in Las Vegas to talk to someone who’s also from Cincinnati. A very popular glass artist, Migoo. How long have you been in glassware?

Migoo:
This year will be my 15th year.

Cupboard:
What motivated you to be a pipe maker, glassblower?

Migoo:
Honestly, I was 18 years old before I even knew you melted glass. I had no idea. When I first saw it at the amusement park, King’s Island, where the man was making the little figurines, the carnival type stuff, and I just fell in love.

I thought it was magic. I just could not believe that you could take a solid and melt it down, manipulate it right there on the end of your two hands, and then freeze it, and then freeze that moment in time. It was just absolutely fascinating.

Cupboard:
It’s nice. Do you want to pick up one of your pieces and show off some of your glass?

Migoo:
This is one of the bamboo orchids. I do a little bit, a lot of the blasting on the stem there, and sculptural flower. The stands I make are actually made out of wood, and I use a real piece of bamboo for the brace.

Cupboard:
What was the motivation behind this piece?

Migoo:
What are the motivations behind botanicals? You know, they’re gorgeous. I’ve always loved the natural forms.

Cupboard:
All right Migoo, so we’d love to have you stay in contact with your fans. What form of social media are you using?

Migoo:
Right now I’ve been focusing a lot on the Instagram. I really like the Instagram. I dig the photos, and it’s MigooGlass.
