John:
I'm JOHN from the Cupboard and cupboardglasspipes.com.  What is your name,  and how long have you been blowing glass?

Jerome Baker:
My name is Jason Harris a.k.a.  Jerome Baker.  I've been blowing glass since 1991.  I was privileged enough to learn from the master himself, Bob Snodgrass.  Today, I'm here in Denver showing off my newest work and checking out some glass pipes.  What the glass pipe is to me it's a process, it's an art poo, is what I call.  It's a memento made from this time that I got to meditate on the torch or if it's a memento made from the group of people I was privileged enough to work with during the time to make it.  Behind me is a piece of glass that I made with a few friends of mine and for example, this piece represents that time that I got to blow glass with these people.  For other people, it represents a beautiful, green bong but me, it is more about this experience of making the product and this is the representation of that moment in time that I got to have and do and spend with those people.

I feel blessed to be part of this industry.  I feel like almost in another incarnation I might have been a painter during the Renaissance in Paris and had the privilege of being an impressionist with Picasso, Monet.  It just so happens I'm a flame worker in America during the flame working movement, the flame working revolution, privileged enough to be a part of it and blessed and honored to be a part of all this.

Tell us a little bit more about some of your new series of the robots that we feature at The Cupboard and at Cupboard Glass Pipes.

Jerome Baker:
Throughout the course of doing this ...  This is an aggressive, cutthroat business.  A lot of people blowing glass now.  There's a lot of pipes on the market so how do you stick out? For me, popping off  of the shelves right now is a combination of quality glass blowing, staying with the new trends and having a nice, packaged approach to getting to the clientele.  Our robots are now a combination of a inspiration of this movement of reefer madness meets Jerome Baker meets 2020 oil rigs.  That's where we're at with this thing.  It's ultramodern, future thinking, creative revolution.  Again, it's just about being around imaginative people, drawing inspiration from the right places.  We go to the beach a lot and smoke mad fatties, and we throw out ideas and this was an idea that percolated out of one of those fatty zones.

Same as my Binger Springs Water, same as marbles on the back of the tubes, same as the way that I make the pipe, all of it comes from sharing human experiences, learning and basing information off each other and coming up with these new ideas.  The robots are a product of that.  We're super stoked to be able to make them.  We're making them in limited numbers, granted you guys got some.  That's awesome.  They're going to be hard to get here soon like all of the other Jerome Baker stuff.  I get asked for old pieces all the time, and we make them.  They're done, they're out there, and they're very fragile so a lot of them are going to get broken.  Keep yours in one piece so that it'll become very valuable one day.

The robots are a great piece.  There's all different, what is this percolators and little parts to them that are each distinct to each individual one.  Ultimately, you're going to want to buy all 4.  There's also a honeypot in the mix.  That's a great piece.  All of them I use at home and all of them I'm extremely happy with the functionality of them.  Of course, you want to shop at The Cupboard, one of the best old school stores in the nation.  One of the top dogs.  I'm really honored and privileged to be able to be a part of The Cupboard team.

Greatest way to shop right now is online.  You can have really good access to pieces.  We're looking at cupboardglasspipes.com.  That's where you can find all my newest work.  I really recommend you check out the site Cupboardglasspipes.com.  (thumbs up)
