Huffy Glass

Ryan Hoffman aka Huffy began his lamp-working career in Evansville, Indiana in 1998. Initially working under artist Dene Stevens, Ryan built his fundamental skills making beads, marbles, and small blown objects.

Ryan attended Penland School of Crafts near Ashville, North Carolina, during the summers of 2001-2003, both as a student and Assistant Instructor. It was there that Ryan's talent evolved to an advanced level as his courses explored neon glass, Venetian-inspired technique and lathe methods. Having always been inspired by the founders of 17th century Venetian lampworking, combined with the teachings of his many versatile instructors, Ryan developed the inventive style for which he is known today.

Ryan's work typically exhibits classic Venetian inspiration with an added contemporary touch. Additional flare is supplemented through the use of paint, sand-etching, gold leaf, 24k gold, silver, and other elements of nature. Ryan's original work includes a vast array of vessels, jewelry, and goblets. Ryan's hand blown creations are produced in his gallery, Volta Glass Studio in downtown Bloomington, Indiana.
